Wood, lime & linseed oil – step closer to traditional techniques

2 – 3 May 2026

Step into the world of traditional building crafts as Den Gamle By’s craftspeople open their toolboxes and invite you to try the techniques and materials used in the restoration of the historic houses.

Watch the masons slake lime, try your hand at signwriting techniques, see the carpenters shape timber as it has been done for generations, and get your hands on linseed putty as the painters demonstrate how old windows are brought back to life.

The scent of wood, lime and linseed oil fills the air – and you’re invited to come closer.
