Book parking from home and save money

Use the underground car park in Ceres Byen just opposite Den Gamle By. With the special ‘Den Gamle By billetter’ tickets, you can choose to park for 6 hours or 8 hours from only 10 EUR. Your parking time starts when you arrive.

Public road

Den Gamle By is located in a red parking zone, with parking available against payment on weekdays and Saturdays. Parking is free on Sundays and public holidays.

If you wish to pay using a parking app, the zone is called 8200.

Ticket machines can be found close to Den Gamle By - the nearest one is just around the corner at Eugen Warmings Vej.

You'll also find machines in the centre of Herningvej, Poppelpladsen (by the Greenhouses) and Eugen Warmings Vej/Ringvejen.

Coach parking and boarding/disembarking

Coaches/bus passengers can disembark and board on Viborgvej, but it is not allowed to park here.

There are three coach parking spaces on the corner of Silkeborgvej and Viborgvej. It is also possible to park coaches on Dollerupvej (at Aarhus Tech), about a 10-minute walk from Den Gamle By.

Disabled parking

Parking is free if a disabled sign is displayed in the windscreen. This applies to all parking spaces operated by the City of Aarhus, including spaces which are not reserved for disabled parking.

Camper van parking

It is possible to park your camper van at Poppelpladsen (the round car park at the greenhouses (Væksthusene).

If you want to park overnight, park at Marselisborg Harbour.

Public transport

Take the bus from Aarhus Central Station, and get off at Viborgvej. Route 3A runs approx. every 15 minutes, and routes 14, 114 and 118 run approx. every half hour.

Directions

The main entrance to Den Gamle By is located at the junction of Silkeborgvej and Viborgvej. It is a 15-minute walk from Aarhus Central Station, and a 20-minute walk (1.5 km) from Dokk1, where cruise ship guests start exploring Aarhus.
