25 - 26 May and 1 - 2 June

Join us for the 10th anniversary of the year 2014.

Get an introduction to the street's homes and shops, meet the people behind the rainbow family and the single woman's home, and enjoy the 'Hawaii' pizza or a traditional 'Århus set' at the legendary jazz bar Bent J.

Introduction to the 2014 street

On both weekends, one of Den Gamle By's curators will give an introduction to the 2014 street at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. We meet in front of Blockbuster and the introduction lasts about 20 minutes.

Meet the original residents

Sometimes during the two weekends, you can be lucky to meet the original people whose homes inspired the rainbow family and single woman's apartments in the 2014 neighbourhood. Let yourself be transported back ten years in time as they talk about their homes and the life that was lived in them;

'Hawaii pizza' at Napoli's

Treat yourselves to a 'Hawaii' pineapple pizza at restaurant Napoli in the 2014 street. You might not believe it, but the ham and pineapple pizza was the most popular pizza in Denmark during 2014.

Jazz bar Bent J

Talk to the bartenders about the old Aarhus jazz bar and try an 'Århus set,' a local custom comprised of a cold Ceres Top bottle beer and a shot of Danish Arnbitter.

The rainbow family

Visit the rainbow family's place and see what their home and everyday life looked like in 2014. When the 2014 street was created, there was a wish to show a modern type of nuclear family, and the choice fell on the Isager family with mum, mum and three teenage children.

The single woman

Explore Rikke Jensen's place, a home that reflects a lot of the trends prevalent in 2014 - from the Kähler vase to the CD system that was put out when guests arrived. In 2014, Rikke was 31 years old and worked as a bank advisor at Danske Bank.
