The wall-hung toilet makes cleaning the floor easier.
Hygiene First
Modern Hygiene
In the basement beneath the Back Houses from Horsens are some of Den Gamle By’s newest public toilets. The toilet is wall-hung, with the cistern concealed behind the wall. The concept already existed in the 1960s, but it has only become widespread in more recent times.
Flushing Away
In recent years, economy and environmental concerns have found their way into the toilet. Most toilets today can flush waste away using less water than in the past.
Today, there is also a strong focus on hygiene and health. The tiled floor is easy to keep clean, and towels have been replaced by automatic hand dryers to reduce the spread of bacteria. For the same reason, bar soap has been replaced by liquid hand soap.
