Wheelchair users and walking impairments
Some of the streets in Den Gamle By are covered with cobblestone , which can cause difficulties for wheelchair users and people with walking impairments.
Paths have been laid throughout the gardens, allowing people with walking impairments and wheelchairs to go straight from the main entrance to the 20th century quarter with more even streets.
In the oldest part of Den Gamle By we recommend that you avoid Vestergade, which is steep, and paved with round cobblestones. Go through the Bernstorff Market Garden and down across the Fair Ground.
Apart from that, it is a good idea to wear flat, practical footwear.
Disabled people's helpers
Unfortunately there is no easy access for wheelchair users to the houses in the town. Help is necessary, which is why a companion ticket is provided free of charge.
Borrow a mobility scooter
You can borrow a mobility scooter from the ticket office. In the peak season the scooters are constantly in demand, so please book one in advance: telephone +45 8612 3188. The scooters are easy to operate.
Toilets for the disabled
There are toilets for the disabled in the Mintmaster's Mansion courtyard and the exhibition building that houses the Poster Museum and the Gallery of Decorative Arts.
Disabled parking
There are a limited number of parking space available for disabled visitors to the museum. The parking spaces are right next to the entrance.
