House from Aarhus, approx. 1830
The half-timbered house was originally part of Aarhus Mill,
which was built where Åboulevarden/Vester Allé are today.
Several of the mill's houses have been rebuilt in The Old Town.
This house was rebuilt in The Old Town in 1930 and houses the
printer's workshop.
.
The custom house 1725/1750
The custom house from Aarhus is a half-timbered house from Aagade,
present day Åboulevarden.
In the 1760s, the house was converted to a custom house.
The building is supported by poles in the water to enable ships
to come as close as possible to the building. Functioned as a custom
house until 1809.
It was rebuilt in The Old Town in 1938 and houses a weighhouse,
custom office and an exhibition about the history of Aarhus harbour. |
