Accessibility
We recommend that wheel chair users and walking impaired use the tarmac road radiating from the road called Eugen Warmingsvej at the left of the stairs leading to The Old Town. Having passed the ticket office, it is possible to walk or drive around the left of the ticket office through the Market Garden and down across the Fairground. This is to avoid the street Vestergade which is the most inaccessible street as it is both steep and with cobblestones.
Visitors that may need to borrow a handicap scooter should ask for this at the ticket office. As the scooters are in great demand during the high season, it might be a good idea to make reservations for one in advance.
A handicap toilet is available in the south wing of the Mintmaster’s Mansion with entrance from the Square through the gate to the Mintmaster’s Mansion.
The ground floor in the exhibition building behind the Mintmaster’s Mansion and the Tea Garden “Simonsens Have” is accessible to wheelchairs. As to the other buildings, help will be required to a varied extent. Helpers on duty have free admission to the museum.
As an aid to the deaf and hearing impaired we offer the services of a sign language interpreter at no extra cost if you have booked a tour in advance. We only require that the tour is booked and paid for no later than on the Tuesday in the week before. The Old Town is determined to better the circumstances for the disabled. The museum continuosly works to improve offers and accessibility to ensure everyone an optimal experience.
